The Biden administration has said it will push to make Tubman the face of the $20 bill. Harriet Tubman was an anti-slave activist who freed more than 70 slaves and reconnected families during slavery time. She will be replacing former President Andrew Jackson who is said to have been a slave owner.
The unveiling was to be made in 2020 but the effort was delayed by former President Donald Trump who named the action nothing but an attempt at pure political correctness. Ms Tubman will be the first women in more 100 years to be on the bill and the first black person to appear on an American dollar note.
White House Press Secretary said “its important that our notes, our money- if people don’t know what a note is- reflect the history and diversity of our country, and Harriet Tubman’s image gracing the new $20 note would certainly reflect that”
